With funding assistance from Racing Victoria, Warrnambool Racing Club was keen to improve the nighttime lighting of their training track, to eliminate dark spots, improve overall track visibility and provide a safer and more illuminated experience for race goers and participants.
Solution
To achieve this goal, we installed 28 light poles with both wide and narrow beam floodlights to illuminate 2000 metres of race track. This had the desired effect the club was looking for by increasing illumination by 300 per cent. At the same time, the club was excited by the 30% power savings they achieved with their new lighting installation.
Technical Highlights
With both wide and narrow beam lights, only 28 poles were needed to illuminate 2000 metres of track without any dark spots, thanks to the overlapping beams offered by the lights.
Each pole features three 250-watt narrow beam floodlights (FL-3250N) as well as one 250-watt wide beam floodlight (FL-3250).
The energy-efficient LED lights, which have a lifespan of up to 160,000 hours, are saving the club around 30% on its power consumption.
